The Vocal Music
Program at Northeast High School is part of the Arts and Education
SLC but is made up of students from all SLC’s across the school.
It is built upon the philosophy that all children shall have the
opportunity to make music through choral singing. These opportunities
include general membership in the Northeast Concert Choir, Select
Choir (audition only) and the soon to be established, Northeast
Chamber Chorale. Additionally, plans are in the works for a choir
to meet the needs of those who are unable to include it in their
daily roster.
The Concert Choir is the larger, general choir from Northeast and
performs at school events and assemblies. The Select Choir is a
selected group of performers from the general choir and is available
by audition only. This ensemble performs at functions outside of
school where a more trained, disciplined quality is desired. Criteria
for admission to the Chamber Chorale will be available soon. All
choirs join together for our annual Winter Concert, the All City
Choir, the Spring Concert and our semi-annual trip to Disney World
as well as for events calling for a large choral sound.
Students who are
interested in becoming part of the Vocal and Choral Music Program
at Northeast High School should contact Mr. Flaherty in Room 133
